Groom told “on yer bike”

Heres a delightful article that I read in a local newspaper …………………………….

WHEN Wayne Whylie at last asked the big question to his loved one she told him “On yer bike”.
But instead of being feeling snubbed, Andrea Berry’s man took her literally and planned a scooter-themed wedding with the help of his friends at the Macclesfield Kroozers club.
Wayne and his mates turned up for the big day in a nine-scooter procession. And, dodging the traditional horse-drawn carriage, Andrea made her way to King Edward Street Chapel in a flower-strewn Volkswagen Campervan.
Andrea, 35, of Century Way, Macclesfield, said: “Wayne’s loved motorbikes since he was a teenager, so it seemed an obvious theme to choose. It was great, it was like something out of Heartbeat.”
The blushing bride, who works at Beech Nursery, added: “The trip to the church was brilliant, a Kroozer mate lent us the Campervan because I don’t have a bike - I just jump on the back of Wayne’s when we go away.
The mum-of-three added: “He came in the Campervan on the way to the reception, we had a Champagne picnic. It was very romantic.”
Self-employed plasterer Wayne, 44, was thrilled to combine Andrea and scooters - the great loves of his life.
The dad-of-two, a member of the club for five years, added “It was brilliant and great to involve the Kroozers; they’re a bit like a second family.”
And in an extra nod to the club - scooter enthusiasts who travel Great Britain on weekend road trips - Wayne chose founder member Mick Ford to be his best man.
The couple’s road to romance has been long and winding. After being good friends for 17 years, they got close after a night in Chicago Rock nightclub four years ago. A year later, Wayne proposed during a Kroozers’ weekend away in Carla Gran, near Blackpool.
Of their four bridesmaids, three were Andrea’s children Amber, 17, Imogen, 12, and Naomi Karie, 15. The fourth was Wayne’s niece, Chloe Frith.
After the wedding, a party was held at Broken Cross Club - the Kroozers’ base - with more than 150 guests, and a fellow crew member on the decks.
The couple haven’t had a honeymoon but are looking forward to their next trip with the Kroozers on Wayne’s red and white Lambretta 125 scooter - a bicycle made for two of course
