Sevice for Jez Bird of the Lambretta’s
Written by phildave on September 11, 2008 – 7:54 am -100’s of mourners attended a service to remember Lewes musician Jez Bird.
St John the Baptist Church in Southover High Street was filled on Tues with family and friends to pay tribute to the lead singer of eighty’s mod band “The Lambrettas” who died on August 27 after a battle with cancer.
The service included traditional hymns and a number of Lambretta’s songs especially requested by Jez.
Among the mourners was Andy Davies, co-presenter and producer of Jonathan Ross’ BBC Radio 2 show.
Jez’s family said they were overwhelmed by the support they had received and thanked everyone for their kindness.
