Brighton Rock - 2010
Written by phildave on March 8, 2011 – 9:14 pm -Brighton Rock was originally released in a black and white version in 1947, but this 2010 adaptation is the story of Pinkie Brown, a mythological teenage gang leader involved in the all too real England gangland subculture wars of the 1960’s between the Mods and the Rockers. True to the character “Pinkie” in the the original novel, Pinkie (played by Sam Riley in this version, and by Richard Attenborough in the earlier version) commits murder and tries to escape justice by marrying Rose, the only person who knows the truth. Rose (played by Andrea Riseborough in this version and Carol Marsh in the first version) is a religious woman, but in her marriage appears to undergo something of change in her moral or values perspective on life.... more
